#37 Brooks Bushland

Ok so I dropped the motorhome in Batemans Bay and am now in a borrowed car rushing to catch a plane from Canberra to Brisbane. Better make a quick cache on the way as this will be my most furtherest south since starting caching. This was the one that came up on the Iphone as easiest to get which had some recent found logs. A quick stop and walk through the bush and an easy find. Look at all the goodies in here what a well stocked cache. I had a field day going through all these things. Took the Catalunya Geocoin 2010 (Soniettte). I think I will move him on to Queensland for a while. TFTC.

#36 Talawahl Rest Area

On a flying visit to Batemans Bay. I stopped for a few hours sleep here and when I woke up at 5 am and turned on the phone/GPS, lo and behold I was 50 metres from this cache so an early morning grab and back on the road. I took the Earth Turtle and so long as I can find the relevant cache at Caboolture next week, this little fellow will find his way to his requested destination in the next few days. Not bad, he has been on the road for nearly 4 years and will tonight be in Qld and will soon be at his destination. The photo is from a nearby play area. A weird collection of post if ever there was one.

#35 Free at Last

Went out for tea with the wife and decided to grab this one on the way home. A quick easy find in good condition. SL TFTC. The bloke across the road was trying to back his car and trailer out of his drive. He was far more interesting to watch than what I was doing so we managed to grab this one right from under the noses of a couple of muggles.

#34 Ships A-Hoy

This one has taken me about 10 goes. Everytime I have I have been near it, so there have been hundreds of muggles.Well driving past today there appeared to be no-one around so I stopped and grabbed the cache. Log is in top condition and cache was not difficult to find. Another one close to home ticked off the list. TFTC.

#33 Light up your christmas life

This was a neat cache with plenty of room for stuff. there were lots of interesting things in here. Most of them were in line with the theme of the cache title. Lots of christmassy stuff in here. I took the card that wants to make its way to Dubbo. I should be able to send it off in the right direction over the next week or two. SL TFTC.

#32 Thomas Jack

My third find on a morning when I wasn't feeling the best. This was an easy find right where I suspected it to be. A fairly busy area so I grabbed the cache and wandered away to sign the log. Everything is in good condition. TFTC.

Cheers Geoff1313

#31 Gate Post

Excellent hide. I had to resort to using the hint to find this one. A lot of thought has gone into hiding this cache. The log is really full and needs to be replaced soon. SL TFTC.

#30 Digging Deep in Dalby

Well this wasn't so much fun. A fairly simple find but a bunch of wasps decided that they wanted the cache more than me. First that I knew about it was when they had a piece of me. Anyway I found the cache but the log was saturated. The only way that I could get a signature in it was to add a new page. The log really does need someone with the time to dry it out.  What a weird sign to have on a shed at a cemetary. No camping in the shed. Who would want to camp in a cemetary. SLTFTC.

#29 108 Sign & Go

Another quick grab on the way home. This one was right where I thought it would be after reading the summary. I will be heading back out past Toowoomba tomorrow so I might try and grab a few more of these stop & go series. Log book is just about full. TFTC

#28 Resting on the Range

An hour to kill whilst waiting for someone to widen a driveway so that I could deliver a container gave me the opportunity to grab this one. A nice easy cache in top condition and right beside the road. I took the plastic medallion and left one of my yellow flowers. SLTFTC.

#27 Boundary

The third one for the day. This cache needs a new plastic bag for the log book and I didn't have one on me today. Logbook was dry but if it rains I don't think it will stay dry for long. A  cool place for the cache and well hidden. By the time this contract has run its race, I should have every cache between my depot and Dalby within 5 klms of the highway. :)

#26 Mangoville

Well another easy grab. This time on the way home from Dalby after unloading. I love these old railway stations. Some towns are doing great things with them. This may be an idea for a series of caches.

Cheers Geoff1313

#25 Gun Shy

Right where it was meant to be. A nice easy grab on the way past with a load for Dalby. TFTC

#24 Pinkin-jinn-ee

This had to be a quick find. Driving east with and oversize load and a 7pm curfew I was ruhing to get to Miles before the cutoff but had seen this rock on the way out and I just thought there had to be a cache here. So with about 2 or 3 minutes to spare I stopped and grabbed the cache. Luckily it come to hand easily so I signed the log took the pic and got on the road all in about 2 mins. TFTC. I only read up on it after finding the cache so was just lucky I guess.

Cheers Geoff1313

PS made it to Miles with a few minutes to spare.

#23 Bungeworgorai

Got this one on the way back after collecting the oversize gear. This one bought back memories for the strangest of reasons. 18 years ago on my birthday I gave up smoking. I made a promise to myself that I would never touch another cigarette. Imagine my surprise when I opened this cache to the smell of a freshly opened packet of cigarettes. The cache contained a cigarette and a box of matches and a fishing hook with some line attached. So the dilemma was how do I get at the log without touching the cigarette. I couldn't just tip it out as then I may have to touch the cigarette to get it back in the cache. Hmmmm. I finally managed to use the fishing hook to get the log out and signed it using my own pen, stowed it back in the cache, took the obligatory photo (I really should have taken a photo of the cigarette shouldn't I?) and went on my way TFTC and the conundrum.

#22 Bungee Lane

A quick dash from Mitchell to Roma to collect some oversize gear gave me the chance to grab this cache. An easy find and in good condition. No snakes and no tripping over logs so I quickly signed the log and kept moving. TFTC.

#21 Major ??

On a quick trip out to Mitchell to drop an empty fuel tank and collect one to return with, I found myself with a few hours to kill. So what else could I do but collect a couple of caches. This one was a ripper. Well hidden in a nice location. The murals were a surprising find and worth the trip. I left the Squirrels Cach Hider, as I thought the next person along had a 50/50 chance of heading west and it may even find itself on the way to Birdsville. As yellow is my favourite colour I couldn't resist taking the 2 yellow flowers. Signed the log which is in top condition. TFTC Claudella I loved it.

#20 Redlands 3

Found this one with Julie. A nice easy drive and find on this one. Cache was right where I thought it should be :) Was beside a busy road so a bit of caution needed.

#19 Old School Hangout

Well this was my second attempt at this one. Last time I tried was on my way to work so I was short on time, and as I approached the GZ it started to pour rain so I gave up and decided to leave this one to a more suitable time. Well today was the day and it was such a simple find that I should have continued on last time. I was after all within 50 metres of it. A lovely little park in the middle of suburbia I can understand why you may have hung out here. TFTC.

#18 Stuck on Stannard

Well after the bush bashing for the Mulberry tree this was a simple find. The bloke across the road was sitting on his verandah and never took his eyes off me. But I suppose there isn't much else for him to look at around here. I wonder if he realises what just happened right under his nose. I found the cache signed the log and took a photo in less time then it took him to have a smoke and I am sure he has no idea.. A good cache with a twist. :)

Cheers Geoff1313

#17 By gosh it a Mulberry

OK. So I know what a mulberry tree looks like we had one at home when I was a kid, so this can't be to hard can it. Well famous last words. No problem, the co-ords took me almost straight to the tree via a bit of bush walking. It was during the walk I found the subject for this photo not actually at the GC. The tree and orchard obviously means a lot to someone and it caught my eye as I wondered past so you all get to share the photo. Back to the mulberry tree. Well I searched high and low but the cache was nowhere to be found. Just about to give up after about 30 minutes and a million mossie bites and started walking off when, lo and behold that looks like a likely spot. Sure enough another couple of seconds and I had the elusive cache in hand. This was a lesson in relying on the old Mark 1 eyeball at times instead of all the electronic gadgetry. TFTC This one got the old grey matter working. Cache is in great condition considering all the water that has been through here recently.

Cheers Geoff1313

#16 Ruffies Ramble

This was my first for the day. What a lovely spot and a nice easy cache to start the day off. I cant imagine bringing my geohounds in here though the commotion when it came to brushing the grass seeds and bindi's out would simply not be worth it. TFTC

#15 Hidden Beach

This one was interesting. Must admit I had to use the hint to get this one. Nice little cache in a top spot. Cache is in top condition.TFTC. The windsurfers were out as well as a few dogs on the beach. We got this one on the way out for dinner. A good way to kill half an hour or so.

#14 Gnomes R Deadly

A nice easy find on the way home from work. The pencil was blunt and I had no pen so I had to modify a pencil sharpener out of some tools in the back of the ute. Managed to get something readable in the log and left. I really must put a list of items together for this. TFTC.

#13 Historic Cardwell

Well this one had special meaning. Not because of the cache but because of how I came to find it. I am going to tell you a bit of a story for this one. Amazing that this one would be so unusual as it is my 13th find and 13  is a special number for me :)

My brother ( Brahms 6 ) got me into geocahing because of the interesting logs that he posts on his blog. I have been following them for a while and thought yep I can do this. Well He lives and works in Cairns. Me I work in Brisbane and we rarely get together.

Thanks to cyclone Yasi, today I met up with him for a half hour chat in what was left of Cardwell. You see I am a Truckie and I had the privledge of delivering a generator to Mission Beach. I was one of the first commercial vehicles to get into Cardwell, Tully or Mission Beach after Yasi. He is an Ambo (or as he would say An ambulance officer ) and he was in Cardwell checking up on the station and people. As I was leaving and heading back home we got together for half an hour and had a bit of a chat but due to both our jobs it was probably shorter than I would have liked. As you can imagine we chatted geocaching for a couple of minutes and I mentioned that I had tried to get a cache in Mission Beach but due to lack of service and all the trees being blown away it was impossible.

He told me of this nice little cache on the way out of town that didn't rely on trees so might still be there. Well it was and I stopped and grabbed it. This is the first one that we have both got so it is a bit special. It is also most likely that this is the first cache gotten in the Yasi impact area so again a little bit special.

I am going to post a couple of photos of this one, because I am certain that many of the previous finders with be amazed by the difference in the area.

So thank you to Ballbag&Bumblebee for the cache and I hope Yasi didn't knock you about to much.I must say from the short time I spent up there, you North Queenslanders are a tough lot so I know you will come back stronger for the experience.

#12 Little Miss Fit

This was interesting. I walk or cycle within a 100 metres of here almost every day and had no idea that this path was even here. Cache was in fairly poor condition. I think it may have been muggled. The container was not hidden very well and the lid was unlatched. The container was partly filled with water and the log was soaking wet. I couldn't do much about it as it was fairly overcast with no sun to be seen to dry things out, so I just emptied out the water and put the lid on properly and hid it where it looked as though it should have been. TFTC.

Cheers Geoff1313

#11 Eclipsed - Samogon

Another easy find in a place that I know very well. I almost felt as if I could walk to this one before I left home. This is my second find in the Eclipsed Series and I now start to find myself looking for excuses to head into the areas where the rest are hidden. I am starting to enjoy this. TFTC.

#10 Resting Rigs

A nice easy find on the way out to Dalby to do a delivery. No rigs in sight so I took a picture of my work ute for you all to look at. I did get to have a wonderful chat with a couple who where having lunch with their dog. They were driving a Rigid Truck towing a caravan any interestingly had 2 lawnmowers on the truck. Those who know me know that I travel a bit in the motorhome but this is the first time I have ever seen anyone with a lawnmover as an alternative form of transport. They where contract mowers traveling from job to job and taking there house with them. The Cache was in top condition. TNLN     TFTC
